Editions

Three photographs, made over several years, in three separate bodies of work. They were chosen for one exhibition, because they are what I have that answers its title.

Each is issued in an edition of ten signed and numbered prints, plus two artist's proofs that stay with me and are never sold. When the ten are gone, the edition is closed.

Rose

White petals opening against black. Up close the flower loses its name and stays behind as form — light folding over itself, and an edge that leads into the dark.

Treeline

A single dark line runs through the snow to the ridge, where one thin sprig stands. One tree standing in for a whole forest; one track standing in for everything that came before it.

Earth Landing

Earth Landing — a moon above a curve of snow, from the Snow series

A moon above a curve of snow that reads like the edge of a planet. Nothing in the frame is large, and yet the scale tips over: what lies at your feet becomes the earth, seen from outside.

How the prints are made

Every print is a carbon-based archival pigment print on Awagami A.I.J.P. Bamboo, 250 gsm — a Japanese washi paper, 70% bamboo and 30% recycled fibre, with no optical brighteners and a warm cream base. The carbon pigment gives a black-and-white print that holds its tone without shifting colour as it ages.

Each print is signed, numbered, and comes with a certificate of authenticity stating the title, the year the work was made, the edition, the paper, and the month the print was made.

Framed, edition of 10 + 2 AP — CHF 1'100

The price is the same across all three works. Each work is sold framed, in the frame it was made for.

Prints are sold directly by me. Write to contact@damartins.com with the title you would like, and I will confirm availability, the next edition number, and shipping or collection.

Payment by bank transfer or TWINT. Free delivery of framed works in the Basel area, or shipped within Switzerland; for delivery outside Switzerland, ask me and I will quote.
